We would like to extend our thanks to Galway City Museum, who hosted us on November 9th for a one-day Introduction to Genealogy Course, delivered by genealogist and historian Declan Brady.

We would also like to thank our course participants who took part in our four sessions, which included: Research Methods and Census Records; Civil Registration and Church Records; Land and Testamentary Records; and Military, Institutional and Writing up your Family Tree.

If you are interested in hearing about similar workshops and courses in the future, please keep an eye on our Facebook and newsletter, or email education@irishfamilyhistorycentre.com

We wish all participants the best of luck in your research and hope the course helped solve some of your family mysteries!

What Our Participants said:

‘The lecturer was very good, it was obvious he knew his subject and was not afraid to advise on best way to progress.’

‘Something I particularly liked was the lecturer's knowledge of Irish history and his capacity to wind this in and out of the genealogical material. Also his enthusiasm. A few of the sessions were longish, but he never lost the interest of or his hold on the audience.‘

‘Excellent course, most enjoyable and very informative.’
