The Public Record Office of Northern Ireland (PRONI) is the official archive for Northern Ireland.

PRONI regularly hosts talks and events which are open to the public. Some interesting upcoming events are:

Celebrating the life of Inez McCormack and women who led civil rights and who campaign for human rights and equality today.

Speakers include: Baronness May Blood, Susan McKay, Patricia McKeown, Lily Kerr, Brid Rodgers, Lynda Walker, and Kellie Turtle

 

Samson and Banana

Samson and Banana: Circus Stories of Belfast and Ireland

12 September, 2pm to 5pm.

Richard McMinn and the Belfast Circus School will celebrate the glamorous past of the Big Top in Belfast, Derry and Ireland.

PRONI holds a fascinating collection of images, manuscripts and memorabilia relating to the Irish Circus and Brett Irwin will take us through this trove.

Exploring Northern Ireland 1968: resources and records 

18 October 2018, 2pm to 4pm.

PRONI in conjunction with the Nerve Centre will be hosting a conference on 18 October 2018 from 2.00pm – 4.00pm entitled Exploring Northern Ireland 1968: resources and records.

The conference will look at the resources available for researching events surrounding the Civil Rights campaign in Northern Ireland in the late 1960s. It will feature speakers from PRONI, the Linen Hall Library, CAIN (Conflict Archive on the internet) and Northern Ireland Screen.
