This privacy policy explains how the Irish Family History Centre operated by Eneclann Ltd. (the Company) use information that you provide when you use the website and how we make sure it is stored and managed safely. We are fully dedicated to always looking after your Personal Information in a way you feel is 100% safe and secure, handling it in a responsible manner and complying with data protection laws.

As we are an Irish company, you are protected by Irish and European data protection laws. INFORMATION WE GATHER ABOUT YOU

Whenever you visit the website, we gather information about what you do during your visit. This information includes the searches that you perform and the information you view. We also gather some information about your computer such as the browser you use and whether you are viewing the site on a PC or mobile device (i.e. phone or tablet). When you subscribe to a membership, pay for a service or get in contact with us we gather personal information (e.g. name, address, phone number, email and postal address). Your personal information may also be used if you reply to a survey.

WHAT WE USE THIS INFORMATION FOR

It is our policy to not retain your personal information for longer than is necessary and will only use the information that we gather to;

WE USE APPROPRIATE SECURITY TECHNOLOGY AND PROCESSES

We take your privacy extremely seriously. We use encryption technology when you sign in or purchase anything from our website. We use up-to-date technology and security standards. We make every effort to keep our systems as secure as possible. Please be aware that although our systems are secure, your information may be intercepted on its way to us via the internet, although it is extremely uncommon for this to happen. As a precaution do not share your sign in details and always keep them private.

WE DO NOT STORE YOUR PAYMENT CARD INFORMATION

When we take a payment from you, we use a secure third-party service to process the payment. We do not keep a record of your credit or debit card details in our systems. Our payment processors do not decide what is done with your data and only process it on our behalf. These third parties may be located outside the European Economic Area; however, we only use providers that deliver adequate protection for your information at all times.

SHARING YOUR INFORMATION WITH THIRD PARTIES

We may from time to time provide your personal information to third parties for the purposes of providing you with our services. These third-party providers include payment processors, providers of card validation services, credit referencing providers, service providers who assist us with hosting our marketing campaigns and surveys. When transferring any personal information out of the EEA we only do so under one of the legally recognised transfer mechanisms for ensuring the data is safeguarded. These are:

  • The country in question has been deemed safe for data transfer by the European Commission. Also known as an adequacy finding.
  • The contract for data processing contains the standard contractual clauses laid down by the European Commission to safeguard the transfer of personal data.
  • Binding corporate rules – this is where a large company’s own internal processes for international data transfer have been signed-off and agreed by the European Commission as safeguarding the data.
  • If the data is going to the USA it can be safely transferred to a company that is certified under the EU-US Privacy Shield.
  • Appropriate certification schemes.
  • We will not provide your data to other third parties for marketing purposes unless you have specifically consented to this when you first provided your data to us. You are entitled to decline receiving such third-party communications by not selecting the appropriate box on the web form that collects your details or at any subsequent time by logging into your account and adjusting your preferences. WHEN CAN WE DELETE YOUR INFORMATION?

If your account is inactive for two years or more and you are not paying membership, we reserve the right to delete your information (this includes any content you uploaded to your profile). Prior to our carrying this out we will make every effort to contact you using the contact details you provided to us.

YOUR PROFILE AND CONTENT YOU UPLOAD

Content you choose to upload to your profile is searchable and may be viewed by other IFHC website users. You can elect not to have your content viewed navigating to ‘Account Settings’ and then ‘Your Account Privacy’. Here under ‘Your Privacy’ you can switch to ‘No’ to not allow other users to follow you. You should familiarize yourself with how this works as you are responsible for whether you want other users to follow you and/or view the content you upload

We reserve the right to remove any personal data, which you have included in uploaded content, about living people that was used without their permission. If you become aware that your personal information has been included in somebody else’s profile without your permission or is being misused in any other way on the www.irishfamilyhistorycentre.com site please send an email to dataprotection@irishfamilyhistorycentre.com with details and we will investigate the matter. If necessary, we will remove this content.

EMAILS WE SEND YOU

We endeavor to only send emails that are relevant and help you with your family history or tell you important things about the website. There are some emails that we send you only if we have your permission (marketing emails). You can unsubscribe from these emails or contact info@irishfamilyhistorycentre.com to have us remove you from the mailing list. There are some emails we send you even if we don’t have your permission (service emails) we send these to administer the service. Please continue reading to find out more.

MARKETING EMAILS

These emails include our regular newsletter, emails that help you with your family history special offers and market research emails. They also include product updates, announcements of new features or information on the website. You can unsubscribe from these emails following ‘unsubscribe’ instructions within the email.

SERVICE EMAILS

We need to send these to administer the service. Service emails include the registration and payment confirmations and welcome emails that provide useful information on what you can do on the website. If any fundamental changes are made to the website or our Terms & Conditions. Because of the nature of these emails we do not allow you to unsubscribe. Please contact us.

OUR USE OF COOKIES

We will only disclose your information to somebody outside the company (or who is processing your information on our behalf under contract) if we are required by law to do so.

IF WE CHANGE HANDS

If the Irish Family History Centre operated by Eneclann transfers its operations or is bought by another company, you agree that we can pass on your information to ensure continuation of the service provided to you.
